equality, diversity and inclusion workshop

News

Diversity includes visible and invisible forms beyond legal protections (e.g., race, age, disability). A team with diverse backgrounds, skills, and perspectives is better able to understand and address the needs of diverse communities. However, these differences can also lead to tension and misunderstandings.

In this free to attend workshop, participants will explore three models for working with diversity, focusing on empathy and improving equality and inclusion. Topics include the connection between identity, experiences, and beliefs, definitions of equality, diversity, and inclusion, the influence of dominant identities, protected diversity aspects under law, unintentional discrimination, and communication impact versus intent.

Key mottos:

The dominant identity shapes the world.
Advantage is invisible to those who have it.
We judge ourselves by intentions, others by impact.
