Stay in touch with information, guidance, activities, events and support provided by community and voluntary sector groups in West Devon for the benefit of our Ukrainian friends and their host famillies.

We want to acknowledge the invaluable work being undertaken by local Ukrainian Support Groups across West Devon who with their wonderful volunteers offer one-to-one advice and support to Ukrainians and their local hosts together with details of all kinds of local welcoming activities. Groups are listed by geographical area.

Stronger Together Ladies Group              Partnering with Meadowlands, we meet Wednesday mornings 10 -1pm. Tavistock Area Wellbeing (TAW)A social prescribing service.  If you have arrived from Ukraine and are feeling socially isolated, have a long-term health condition or simply need help with finding your way in the community, you can ask your GP to refer you to Tavistock Area Wellbeing for some support.  
Tavistock Heritage Trust and Tavistock GuildhallHappy to offer voluntary positions in a wide variety of roles at our Heritage Centre and Visitors Information Centre for the town. This includes a regular series of events in the evening from lectures, poetry recitals, music, live comedy and film, an education programme engaging local schools and young people in the town as well as a series of heritage walks around the town, a research group and much more. Tavy District (University of the Third Age) U3A“Learn, Laugh, Live” with this friendly inclusive group of those no longer in full time work who are interested to learn for the pleasure of learning within locally set up special interest groups; includes speakers, events, theatre visits and trips out. FREE membership to Ukrainian refugees who match the eligibility criteria and possible help with transport for any Ukrainians who live outside Tavistock and wish to take part in u3a activities and events. Many of our members are former teachers and we may be able to provide support with English language learning. Street Pastors, OkehamptonOkehampton Street Pastors patrol the streets late at night, supporting the night time economy.  Volunteers are drawn from local churches and they need to have been attending for a minimum of six months before applying.
