Mental Wellbeing Drop In volunteer – could this be you?

The Mental Wellbeing Drop In Cafe, delivered by North Dartmoor PCN, Community Links SW and West Devon CVS at Okehampton Medical Centre EX20 1AY will provide access to support for people with mental health difficulties. We know that people struggle to access the help they need at the weekend. This leaves them feeling vulnerable and alone. There is also an additional burden on inappropriate services at the weekend, including the on-call GP and emergency services. At the beginning of the week people often reach out for support following a difficult weekend.

As a West Devon CVS volunteer in this role, you will help to address this gap in services and ensure local people feel supported. We will offer a combination of befriending, coaching, mentoring and appropriate signposting.

The Drop in Cafe will run from 10 am – 12 noon on Saturday mornings at the Medical Centre In East Street, Okehampton. You will be part of a friendly and dedicated team, working alongside a facilitator, meeting people from all walks of life and knowing that you are providing a service which people value and appreciate.

Safeguarding and mental health awareness training will be provided as well as full ongoing support.

If you are caring, compassionate, calm, friendly, trustworthy, discreet, non-judgmental and sensitive with good communication skills, please consider this worthwhile and fulfilling role.
